About Us

Our
Story
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a 150 years old Fraternal Organization with hundreds of thousands of members in over 2000 lodges throughout the United States. We were founded in New York City on February 16, 1868 under the name "Jolly Corks" by 15 actors, entertainers and others associated with the theater and later expanded to other professions. This Fraternal Order was founded "To promote and practice the four cardinal virtues of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its members; to quicken the spirit of American Patriotism and cultivate good fellowship."
In the modern day, Grandview Hickman Mills supports veterans in a variety of ways, such as sponsoring Welcome Home kits for veterans who are moving into one of our homes, "Seats and Feets" fundraiser that asks for donations of undergarments to be donated to veterans, and writing grant proposals to get funds to support veterans in need.
We also support our local community by raising money for scholarships to benefit Grandview High School seniors, with a focus on those students who are looking to enter a trade school.
